The event was to go down as follows: 6 of Sacramento's top chefs (with their sous chefs) competed at the California Automobile Museum, in an Iron-Chef style challenge to create 3 dishes using all the secret ingredients (salmon, goat, papaya, mushrooms) within a 45-minute, staggered time frame. At the end of each chef's time, their dishes were tasted and judged by 5 Celebrity Chef Judges. Fun, right? Right!
So as the chef's prepared themselves and their "kitchens", over 80 vendors set up their booths around the museum for guests to sample their food, beer, and wine. As the guests arrived they were adorned with a wristband, and handed a wine glass for sampling, a token for voting the best vendor's booth, and a recycled bag to put in any goodies.
During the event, guests wandered around the museum sampling from all the vendors and participating in raffle drawings for some truly amazing prizes. One of the raffles was to purchase a key to see it if unlocked 1 of 3 doors to a crazy great prize of plane tickets to anywhere in the continental US or 4 Disneyland tickets!
At the end of the event, after all chef's dishes had been tasted and judged, and vendors were running out of free samples, the winning chef was announced: Congratulations Chef Russell Michel of Morgan's Central Valley Bistro at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento!
I feel great for having taken part in this unique, sensory overloading, and very fun charity event!
